Quiet Encounters is a small, curated collection of wildlife photographs focused on moments of stillness, attention, and presence.

These images are not about spectacle or rarity. They are about waiting: moments observed slowly, often at the edges of movement and light.

Each photograph was selected for its ability to hold space over time: images to live with, rather than simply be noticed.

The work is photographed in natural conditions, without staging or manipulation, and printed to order using archival materials.

The photographs are by Stephen Pollard, a UK based wildlife photographer with a long-standing interest in quiet observation and the natural world.

Every photograph is printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, a 100% cotton paper with a smooth matte surface, and the stock most galleries and museums reach for. My work lives in shadow, and a heavily textured paper competes with the very thing these photographs are made of. This one asks nothing for itself. It is cotton rag, of the same family used for etchings and engravings for centuries, and it is why these are called plates.

Five percent of every sale goes to WWF-UK, whose work protects wildlife and the wild places these creatures depend on. The subjects give me the pictures; this is a way of giving something back.
