A river in the Costa Rican lowlands, November. He kept his post on the mossed branch for the better part of an hour, watching the water the way only a kingfisher can.

The paper was chosen, not defaulted to. Hahnemühle Photo Rag is a 100% cotton paper with a smooth matte surface, the stock most galleries and museums reach for when the photograph itself has to do the talking. These photographs live in shadow, and a heavily textured paper competes with that. This one carries it, holds its blacks, and lets the light settle into the fibre rather than sit on top of it.
