Bearded Tit
Low winter light in the reed beds, the seed heads heavy with autumn.
Thorney Island on a still December afternoon, the reed beds gone to seed. The flock moved through the stems like weather, and he paused just long enough.

The paper was chosen, not defaulted to. Hahnemühle Photo Rag is a 100% cotton paper with a smooth matte surface, the stock most galleries and museums reach for when the photograph itself has to do the talking. These photographs live in shadow, and a heavily textured paper competes with that. This one carries it, holds its blacks, and lets the light settle into the fibre rather than sit on top of it.
